In both the mutual support and psycho education interventions, patients were invited to attend three sessions, which focused on knowledge of the illness and its treatment, drug compliance, and available mental health services. Seven experts in psychiatric rehabilitation (psychiatrists, psychologists, and nurse specialists) independently rated the appropriateness of the contents of the two programs, and revisions were made to enhance content validity. Supervision and progress monitoring of the two programs included consistent reviews of the audiotape of each session and regular clarification of problems and issues arising from the meetings.
