Detection of decomposition of a-tomatine by TLC (Kaup et al.,
2005)
A 10-lL aliquot of 10 mM a-tomatine, 10 mM tomatidine, or a
mixture of a-tomatine and crude enzymes was spotted on a TLC
plate (Merck silica gel GF254), and separated by using ethyl acetate:methanol:acetate:water (30:20:10:1, v/v/v/v) as the solvent
system. Spots separated on a TLC plate were detected by spraying
10% sulfate and heating
