The survey was conducted using a YSI EcoMapper autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and SonTeks M9 Acoustic Doppler Current Meter to collect depth, side-scan sonar and water quality measurements, each second, during a pre-planned mission. Throughout the mission, the YSI EcoMapper traversed the quarry recording geospatial data linking position with depth. Quarry side information was obtained using the SonTek M9 transducer , tri-frequency (3.0 MHz, 1.0 MHz and 0.5 MHz) Doppler fitted to an inflatable kayak. These robust data sets were then translated into bathymetric surfaces using CARIS BASE Editor software.
