Potential interpretive qualitative research questions
are: 1) “What is it like to be ageing and living in (x
Asia Pacific location)?” and 2) “What is the lived
experience of (y disease of ageing)?” Although there
are many possibilities, the first question could be
explored through an ethnographic using unstructured
observation methods, fieldnotes and interviews to
describe the culture of ageing within the location. The
second question could be explored through narrative
inquiry, using conversational interviews to gain elderly
people’s accounts of their personal stories of living
with diseases associated with ageing.
