Out of all the tested fuels in the combustor, sawdust has produced
a high useful energy output despite not being high energy
content material, compared to other fuels (Table 4). Chicken
manure has also produced a high amount of useful heat energy. Its
low moisture content, better porosity and high energy content
meant that the combustion of chicken manure is good and made for
high heat generation. Rice husk being high cellulose material was
also shown a high heat output. Miscanthus pellets have high energy
and moderate moisture content compared to rice husk pellets. The
high percentage of moisture, non-uniform shape and size leads to
poor combustion of wood chips resulting in poor useful heat generation.
A high presence of mineral content e specifically silicon e
in the straw pellets also resulted in poor heat generation.
