Influence of activated carbon drying time on the
regeneration efficiency
By fixing the regeneration time at 20min, the regeneration temperature
at 25 ◦C, and the activated carbon drying temperature
at 150 ◦C, the regeneration at different activated carbon drying
times was investigated. The regenerated activated carbon was then
exposed to the coking wastewater again, and the regeneration efficiencies
of the activated carbon were compared (Fig. 8).
The results showed that with increase in drying time, the activated
carbon regeneration efficiencies increased gradually. This can
be explained that extending drying time was in favor of the evaporation
of mixture of water with organic solvent from the surface
of activated carbon. The drying time was longer, the dried level of
activated carbon was higher, and the recovery degree of regeneration
efficiency was also higher. When the drying time increased to
300 min, amaximum regenerate efficiency of 98.27% was attained.
It was therefore determined that the optimum drying time for activated
carbon regeneration is 300 min.
