The genes of the key enzymes
involved in the biosynthesis of artemisinin, such as farnesyl
diphosphate synthase (FPS) and amorpha-4, 11-diene
synthase (AMS), and the genes of the enzymes relevant
to the biosynthesis of artemisinin, such as squalene synthase
(SQS), have been cloned from A. annua [6–10]. The enzyme
involved in biochemical transformation of arteannuin B to
artemisinin was purified [11].
