In the literature, burnout is considered a chronic condition over time. With this in mind, due to the inconsistencies in the observed burnout levels, another avenue of future research might include a longitudinal research design with data collection occurring at two or more different times during the year (e.g.,during tax or auditing season). Additionally, an interesting future research opportunity may include a study that focuses on the relationship between burnout and the work environment as action research notonly to create awareness, but also to develop policies and procedures to assist in mitigating the condition. As a result, more research is needed to investigate how companies intervene to lessen burnout and the effect of such interventions
