Americans who want to serve the public, and there are many, increasingly are turned off by government.Far more young adults express an interest in working for a community service organization than in working for government. Less than two-thirds of the graduates of all M.P.A. and similar programs are employed by governments on graduation, and, at the twenty top its programs, not even half are.
