Many forms in AX use a header and line view for their layout. This is common practice for data that has a header and line relationship such as purchase and sales orders. The header serves as the way to enter defaults for the order and to mass update the lines of the order. The header is also a great place to put general information about orders such as the customer vendor. Now, the line view provides a place to enter the details about each item or line within the order. Let's switch over to AX to take a look. To demonstrate header and line views, we're going to see how they apply to a sales order. We're going to click the navigation button. This time we're going to go to the sales and marketing module. So we'll click there. And we'll go to the sales order section and select all sales orders. So it's going to pull up a list of all the sales orders we have for our company. And for the sake of this, we'll just choose a random sales order here. It doesn't really matter which. So we'll do this one for Owl Wholesales. And now, this is going to load up here and when it does, it's going to default to line view. That's generally how it is when you open up a -- I know for sales orders and various other forms as well it applies to. So it's in line view right now. And line view allows you to look at the different lines for the products on the sales order. So we have midrange speaker, midrange speaker two. Acoustic phone panel. And based on which line you have selected, these line details below here will change. So I'll -- you can see here like the product name. Acoustic phone panel. It's because we have this item selected. So if we select this line instead for midrange speaker, you see the product name will change. Now, they have the line details split up into different categories and it looks pretty similar to the Excel workbook style, if you have ever seen that before. When you change any of the information on these tabs, which I'll do so by first clicking the edit button, now that I've clicked the edit button, I can change the name of whoever I want it delivered to. So we'll change this to Rabbit Wholesales instead of Owl. If I can spell correctly, that is. So we've changed that and now if I go to one of the other tabs, this will stay the same. It will save the information automatically. So you can see it still says Rabbit Wholesales here. And remember, like anything you change in these fields here and the line details section, it will only apply to the item you have selected. So it's only going to apply for midrange speaker. So if I go to midrange speaker two -- so we're just going hit yes on this to modify it. Wait for that to process. OK. Great. So now, I'll go to that address tab that we were in before and you'll see this says Owl Wholesales while our midrange speaker item now says Rabbit Wholesales. So it really depends which one you have selected as far as when you are changing the fields down below here. We do still have a header in this view. This is just some very general data. The most important stuff. But what we can do is we've got a couple methods of doing this to get over to the header view. I'll show you the difficult way first. If we go to options, we can go to change view and we can click header view here. Now, luckily, there's a shortcut command for this because that's a few too many clicks. It's faster to press the keys for this one. And because we modified the sales order, it's asking us if we are sure we want to. Yes. So now I'll show you the other way to navigate between the header and line views. So, right now, we're on the header view. I can press control shift and L. And it should take us back to the line view here. Here we go. So now we're back in our line view again as we were before. And if I press control shift H, we can go to our header view. And this header view is generally going to be the same on all forms you see, just the way it's set up. It uses the FastTab system. And this just breaks the information into different categories. So you have general at the top is the most important, and it just works its way down the list here. So we can change all the information and it's just a general -- it's like an overview. So you're going to be changing information for your entire sales order. Not just for specific items. So if you need to change things for specific items, you'll need to use the line view.
