When you go to another country you should to know a little bit about language of each country. For Japan the official language is Japanese that the most widely and currently spoken language in Japan. It is a member of the Japonic language family, which relates to other language groups, particularly to Korean. The second language of Japan may be English so that the second unofficial language. However very few people speak it at a fluent competency. Mostly, Japanese people use English in education and use it in a commercial situation.
Japanese have a many dialects. Tokyo dialect considered standard Japanese. There are actually basically two dialects; namely, Yamanote and Shitamachi. Yamanote dialect was spoken by officials and upper-class people during the Meiji period; it is essentially the basis for Standard Japanese. Shitamachi dialect, on the other hand, is connected with the lower class neighborhoods and merchants. It is also called the Edo-ben after the old name for Tokyo. For example, another dialect is Kansai dialect. This dialect is prevalent in the Kansai region, composing of Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Shiga, and Mie. The impression to regular Japanese speakers is that of a noise, brash, outspoken or funny.
