The development of strategies is often derived from information about large organizations and what they do to remain competitive in the market. In fact small firms, particularly newly started ventures, do not have a corporate culture nor a pool of managerial talent from which they might create a start-up strategy. There is some parallel to be expected should the entrepreneur elect to rely on her or his network of family, friends and advisors, but for the most part the entrepreneur works alone. It is interesting to note that the effectiveness of the new venture strategy does not appear to be affected as the venture grows.
