Figure 3 shows a comparison of the measured with the predicted values of MC. The predicted values agreed well with the measured values with errors of 0.82, 1.00, and 1.99% d.b. at drying temperatures of 60, 70, and 80 °C, respectively. The mean error of the prediction was 0.9% d.b. Because the drying parameters k, n, and Me were approximated simply, differences between the measured and actual MC were evident in the early stage of drying.The proposed model accurately predicted the profile of MC during drying. The model not only predicted the mean MC in a batch but also the MC of individual particles, i.e. MC variation in a batch. Information on individual drying behaviour is useful for evaluating quality and drying management of crushed feed rice.
