One hot summer’s day a fox was strolling through an orchard till he came to a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine which has been trained over a lofty branch. “Just the thing to quench my thirst,” quote he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. Again and again he tried, but at last had to give up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying “I am sure they are sour.” And he walk until saw a Crow fly off with a piece of meat in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree. “This is for me, as I am a Fox,” and then walked up to the foot of the tree. “Good-day, Mistress Crow”, he cried, “How well you are looking to day, How glossy your feathers, How bright your eyes” I feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure does, let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the “Queen of Birds” The Crow lifted up her head and began to caw her best, but the moment she opened her mouth the piece of meat fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by the Fox. And he said” That was all I wanted” and he walked away with a mock crow while he was laughing a piece of meat that he steal from a crow just fall down so he does not eat that piece of meat too.
