Fig. 3 and Table 3 show the real-time NOx emission from three algae combustions at varied temperatures ranging from 700 to 900 C. NOx species in algae biomass combustion can be divided into thermal-, fuel- and prompt- NOx like coal combustion. Because the present experiment was performed at 700e900 C, the amount of thermal NOx explosively generated higher than 1200 C is extremely low. Moreover, the prompt NOx can also usually be neglected. Hence, the NOx is primarily fuel NOx. Actually, the measurement indicated that NO dominantly accounted for more than 90% of total NOx for all three algae biomass species.
