In AT, the release of AA can be catalyzed by AdPLA or by other
types of PLA2 released from macrophages[9]. AdPLA is highly and
exclusively expressed in AT and is associated with adipocyte
differentiation and lipolysis [39]. Ablation of AdPLA in mice caused
a reduction in triglyceride levels and insulin resistance in response to
a HF diet [9,39,40]. In the present study, the protein expression of
AdPLA in AT was significantly suppressed by cocoa treatment.
Together with reduced AA levels in AT, these results suggest a
decreased availability of substrates for the synthesis of eicosanoids
