This interpolator assumes that each point in the data set has a local influence that decreases with distance, and hence the values of the points near the node that is processed have more importance or weight in the estimation of the value that will be assigned to it, than have the points that are further away (Burrough and Mcdonnell, 1998). Normally, the search is made considering a number of points or a radius (in a circle around the cell under consideration).
