During the extraction of PAs from food samples by the sonication method, significant amounts of lipids including di- and tri-glycerides were co-extracted together with analytes. Several cleanup methods such as solvent partitioning, saponification, SPE and column cleanup have been widely used to remove the lipids.However, these methods used large amounts of organic solventsand required time-consuming sample workup steps. Also, to measure trace PAs in high lipid foodstuffs, sample should have a large volume. For a large volume of sample, long sample preparation time is obviously required and multi-step procedures are prone to the loss of analytes.
