Among the demographic variables, marital status of the
reference person was found to be significant. Widowed
revolvers were found to pay a lower APR than married
revolvers. While there is no a priori reason to expect
this finding, it may be the case that some widows are
establishing -- or re-establishing -- credit in their own
names. Finally, the residents of Pacific West were found
to pay more than 131 basis points more than New
England and West North Central residents. The reason
for this regional difference is not obvious, calling for
further research.
