cant land development generally had lower nutrient concentrations,
were clearer, and better oxygenated (Figs. 2 and 3). These
spatial patterns in water quality support the a priori hypothesis
of deteriorated water quality as a result of land-use changes and
wastewater disposal practices as identified by the expert panel in
classifying the sites as polluted or unpolluted.
