This painting is called “Madonna and Child” and was painted by Berlinghiero. Berlinghiero was an Italian painter of the early thirteenth century. His style was Romanesque. Madonna and Child is a representation of mary, either alone or with her child Jesus.
Madonna and Child can be abstracted in some parts. For example, if you look closely to the hands of Madonna the knuckles have been painted a different way, and so has the eye brows and also her clothing.
Differences:
Whilst researching Medieval and Renaissance paintings I have seen many different however interesting things. One thing that I know that is different between the two of them is that Medieval paintings are more religious and related to Christianity more than the Renaissance. I could tell this by the type of people in the background and also from the two paintings that I chose to research about. However I still think that Renaissance paintings can also relate to Jesus in a way to. In two paintings that I have chosen they both have a sort of expression, an expression that brings the whole painting alive. They are also very abstract is some parts of the painting.
