In the present study, the effects of standardized garlic
powder on blood cholesterol, triglycerides and systolic
blood pressure in the rats fed on a high cholesterol diet
have been evaluated. Since blood cholesterol plays an
important role in the development of atherosclerosis, and
dietary factor (high lipid diet) is known to elicit high
blood pressures, it was important to observe the relationship
between hypercholesterolemia and hypertension. It
was also necessary to simultaneously observe the effect of
garlic on these two parameters
