Much of the rotary engine work that has been published
to date has covered the Wankel engine [1,2,3,4]. Most
other rotary engine designs only appear in the patent
literature or as non-technical articles in trade magazines
or, more recently, on web sites. A recent technical
paper on rotary engines lacked any coherent information
concerning the rotary engine history or relevant design
philosophies
of this mechanism. Likewise, complications of the rotary
mechanism sealing (namely airtightness and durability)
have hampered the rotary engine as a viable and
economical power plant. With the development of new
technologies the attractiveness of the rotary engine
advantages are making a comeback in the minds of
many designers
