It was in 1932 when Thailand became a constitutional monarchy that education was perceived as an essential means for the progress and preservation of a democratic society and for national development. It has indeed been regarded as one of the important tasks of the government. Consequently, the following year, the first National Education scheme was formulated to set directions for education development. Then, a few more schemes were revised and put into use in 1936, 1960. 1966 and 1977 respectively and the latest one being implemented is that of 1992. The present scheme, emphasizing education for survival, stability and mutual happiness, aimed at building development of people's awareness of following 4 principle growths and balances so as to produce qualified citizens who can live a helpful life in their society.
