8. Point the fingers of the bottom hand toward the victim’s hand. Then give five quick inward, upward thrusts. Use the method, too, if you are unable to reach around the waist of a conscious victim.
9. A conscious choking victim who is alone can self-administer abdominal thrust. The victim places the thumb side of a closed fist in the same position described above, covers the first with the other hand, then gives inward, upward thrusts.
