debris collection locations were provided as spatially-explicit points. For 2010, the contractor only provided PDF overview maps with debris collection locations, which were then geo-referenced against NOAA nautical charts to generate debris collection points. In total, 862 unique, spatially-explicit points were compiled for the subsequent spatial analyses. A bathymetric raster of the study region was created by interpolating 3667 individual bathymetric data points using inverse distance weighting. The benthic habitat map was provided as a polygon shapefile and subsequently rasterized for utilization with ArcGIS map algebra. The benthic habitat and bathymetric attributes for each debris collection locations was extracted with the Spatial Analyst tool. A frequency of occurrence distribution was then used to rank the habitat types and depths most associated with the debris collected.
