and soil factors was characterized by six significant canonical correlations, of which the first was most important (Table 5). The first canonical correlation was driven by the relation between CBB and three variables of the set of agro-ecological factors, mainly by plant age. The other disease variables were of minor importance, while the variables crop mixture and soil texture in the opposite set had relevance in the correlation. Thus, CBB severity seemed to increase with plant age, while the disease seemed to be less severe when several crops or cassava varieties were associated in one field, and in sandy soils.
