Here's a handy infographic from The Nation for all those who want to go to the Grand Palace in Bangkok to pay respects to a great big empty pot.
The organisers probably realised that many people have busy schedules and paying respects to a pot seems like a poor use of time, so they have done two things to try to attract more visitors:
1. They have told people to imagine that the great big pot contains the body of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died on October 13, although in fact it doesn't.
2. Instead of calling it a great big pot, they call it an urn.
Meanwhile, according to the infographic, women must wear skirts, not trousers, even if they are smart black trousers. Can anybody explain to me why the Thai authorities are against women wearing trousers? In most of the world it became acceptable for women to wear trousers many years ago, and nobody would consider a smart trouser suit inappropriate. Why is Thailand different?
