This was our second visit to legoland as a family. We had not been for several years as last time we went it was so packed we couldn't move and queuing for everything was unbearable. However, as friends of ours were staying there for the bank holiday weekend, and we now have merlin passes, we decided to give it another go. Our children are girls aged nearly 9 and 11, and our friends children are nearly 4 and 6 year old boys.
Unfortunately the weather was awful and it rained non stop all day. However this meant all queues were short and we could go on what we wanted when we wanted. The only trouble was trying to find somewhere under cover to eat our picnic. We ended up eating outside the cafe at 'the beginning'. It did say tables were for cafe users only, but many people were eating their picnics under the parasols and no one was asked to leave.
All staff we came in contact with we're polite and helpful, and the toilets were much cleaner than at chessington. There were staff cleaning in the toilets each time we were in there.
We had hot chocolates, teas and mini doughnuts, in one of the cafes in the park and staff were happy to add cold milk to the childrens drinks as they were very hot otherwise.
If it hadn't been for the persistent rain I would've rated this 5 stars, and of course the weather isn't their fault, but it did affect the overall pleasure of our day. Legoland did however offer a rainy day guarantee which meant those who bought tickets could have another day out for free as it had rained persistently for a certain period of time.
We will go back as there are many things that we did not get a chance to try, and it does offer many things that can be done as a group of different aged people. For instance there is the 4 D movie and the 'mini land' area full of Lego buildings from around the world, some of which are still the same from when I was a little girl in the early 1980's!
