Conclusions
Pomegranate juice-containing pectin films were successfully
produced in this study. The pomegranate juice provided the films
with a bright red color, and acted as a plasticizer, improving film
elongation, but impairing the other tensile properties, as well as
the water vapor barrier and water resistance. The most noticeable
effect of citric acid was the reduction of film solubility, suggesting a
possible crosslinking effect, although there was no direct evidence
to support it. Moreover, the effects of citric acid on a dry film basis
indicate that it improved tensile and barrier properties, corroborat-
