and Dartmouth’s Department of Education. Despite these initiatives and programs, many people are remain nonplussed and question how the neurosciences can contribute to Education. In this paper I will outline how and why the impact of EN may be important and significant. I hope to establish a structural and conceptual framework that will help illustrate how research in the neurosciences has and will continue to have an impact on Education, at what levels its effects may occur, and the type of questions need to identified and addressed. In a companion paper Read Diket (2005) will outline the successes and shortcomings of Howard Gardner’s conceptualization of Multiple Intelligences, a theory inspired by neuroscience research that has had an impact on both the philosophy and the practice of Education
