HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam and New Zealand agreed to continue the exchange of all-level delegations and maintain talks and consultation mechanisms during their first Defence Dialogue in Ha Noi yesterday.
The dialogue was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh and Tony Lynch, New Zealand Deputy Secretary of Defence in charge of Policy and Planning.
The two sides discussed positive developments in their bilateral defence collaboration over the past year, especially since the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on defence co-operation in 2013.
They agreed to continue mutual support at multilateral forums like the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting, while also contributing to regional and global peace and stability.
Vietnamese officials expressed hopes that New Zealand will further assist Viet Nam in giving military officers English language training, and continue to share their experiences in peacekeeping activities. — VNS
