(3) The Vaipulya (Correct and Equal) Period, lasting 8 years. During this period the Buddha taught the main Mahayana ideas contained in several sutras.
Examples of this teaching are nondualism (the middle path, not choosing one side over the other), the doctrine of emptiness (shunyata), and the teaching that is beyond words (= hence the truth as silence).
