Nematodes
Nematodes are small eel-like worms:most are too small to be seen without microscopes. Nematodes feed on plants by sucking liquid out of plant cells.
The most important nematode pathogens feed on plant roots, but different types of nematodes can feed on almost any part of a plant.
Some nematodes feed mostly on the outside of plant tissues, whereas others go inside the tissues and feed from inside.
Nematodes cause damage to plants by injuring cells, removing cell contents, or changing normal plant growth processes.
Chemicals that are used to kill nema- todes are called nematicides.
