2.6. Minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) determinations
For the determination of minimum bactericidal concentration
(MBC), after having determined the MIC of the extracts, from
the wells of the microplate with no visible bacterial growth, and
using the standard loop of 6 mm, samples were removed for the
subculture in BHI agar supplemented with 5% defibrinated sheep
blood (Streptococcus mutans) or Brucella agar supplemented with
5% defibrinated sheep blood, hemin (5 g/mL) and vitamin K1
(0.4 g/mL) (Porphyromonas gingivalis). The lowest concentration
of the subculture with no growth was considered the minimum
bactericidal concentration
