According to the British Dyslexia Association (2012),dyslexia is a combination of strengths and limitations that can affect reading, writing and spelling, and sometimes mathematical ability, although there may similarly be problems with short-term memory or sequencing due to the way information is processed differently.
As with the theme of this chapter, dyslexia is not to be viewed as a 'difficulty': it is only a difficulty if the teacher is unable to match appropriate activities with the child's specific needs.
