It can be seen from Table 2 that although MC was rich in sugars, the total soluble sugar content in mushroom fruit bodies was significantly lower compared to the control. It was thus interesting to see the soluble sugar content of the fruit bodies harvested from MC supplemented WS. Therefore, the best substrate combinations, with each from raw MC, CW DMC and DMC category (i.e., WS + 10% MC, WS + 10% CW DMC and WS + 20% DMC) were selected and their fruit bodies were evaluated for content of soluble sugars (Table 3). It was noteworthy to mention these substrate combinations as maximum yield/BE could be obtained from them (in the respective category of raw MC, CW DMC and DMC) and thereafter, it decreased.
