the camel is a large, strong desert animal. camels can travel great distances across hot, dry deserts with little food or water. they walk easily on soft sand where other animals would get struck and carry people and heavy loads to places without paths or roads. they also serve people in many other ways.
camels carry their their built-in food supply in humps on their backs, these humps consist of large amount of fat providing energy for them to use if food is not available.
