THE MONTHLY FORECAST
The monthly forecast is issued on the first of each month, showing all tentative and definite convention bookings. The booking forms are collected and checked against the forecast at the end of the month to determine that all bookings are entered correctly. Then the forecast is retyped, and an up-to-date copy is widely distributed. Recipients of the monthly forecast include the general manager, the food and beverage manager, all sales personnel, the catering manager, the front office manager, housekeeping, and engineering.
The forecast becomes the basis for three additional reports:
1. A report representing the month’s business that has been confirmed and that still remains tentative.
2. A cumulative report showing all bookings for the year, including those of the past month.
3. A month-by-month listing of all definite bookings for the next three years.
