1. Form a pair of 2.
2. Choose a reading passage that both of you are interested in. Use surveying and skimming techniques to get an overview of the text and to make sure that both of you really like it. (Please note that you are going to use the SAME text in the next task on note-taking and summary writing too!) The passage should be of about an A-4 page long or contain at least 7 paragraphs. Also check that the original text does not come together with any reading exercises. Note down the detailed reference or the source of the text.
3. Ask for your teacher’s approval of the chosen text. Also give your teacher the link to the text.
4. After getting the approval, start reading it in detailed. Make sure that both of you clearly understands the text.
5. Find the main idea of each paragraph. Due to the number of the paragraphs which include about 5, there should be 5 main ideas at least, excluding the introduction and the conclusion. Each student should be responsible for each different paragraph. Each main idea should be written in one and a complete sentence.
6. Take notes.
7. Write a summary.
8. Hand in the ‘first draft’ of your work to the teacher and make an appointment for feedback. Your first draft should consist of – the passage, the main ideas, the note and the summary.
9. Revise the work to prepare for the final draft.
