The aquaponics greenhouse was an unheated 7.9 × 14.6 m greenhouse constructed of steel supports covered with a double film of polyethylene with polycarbonate end walls and oriented in an eastwest direction. A thermostatically driven louvered shutter and exhaust fan were mounted in the eastern and western end walls respectively. The greenhouse had roll-up sides allowing the lower 1.2m to be vented. Lumite mesh screening (32×32 mesh) was attached to the sides of the greenhouse to prevent pests from enter- ing. The aquaponic channels, measuring 38 cm wide × 2.44 m long, were constructed of plywood and covered with an EPDM (45 mil) liner. A 2.5 cm ball valve at the beginning of each channel allowed independent control of the water velocity to each channel. A 5 cm diameter drain standpipe at the end of the channel maintained water depth at 15 cm.
