Air speed and temperature were measured at points underneath
the first, third and fourth belts as well as inside the
air supply duct, and the values obtained were compared with
values calculated from the CFD simulation. Measurements
were taken using thermo anemometers (Ahlborn type
MT8635TH4, Holzkirchen, Germany) and NiCreNi thermocouples
(Ahlborn type FT015L0500, Holzkirchen, Germany).
Five of these air temperature and speed sensors were
permanently positioned at 0.5 m intervals across the beginning,
middle and end of the first belt between the upper and
lower strand. Measurements were taken continuously during
the operation of the dryer.
