Visiting Chanthaburi will not be complete, if you do not taste the famous local food & desserts named below:
Food
Kuaitiao Phat Pu: looks like “Phat Thai” but its tastes are more sour, sweet and hot.
Kuaitiao Nua – liang or Mu – liang: the noodles with a good taste from the spicy soup.
Nam Phrik Pu Khai: the orange colour of crab’s egg. Its sour and hot taste is delicious and suitable for anyone who likes the real taste of Thai food.
Mu Chamuang: “Chamuang” is the leaf of a local plant with a sour taste. This food looks like Indian curry, sour and sweet but no spices. Do not miss it because in other provinces, it is impossible to find.
Kai Tom Kravan: “Kravan” or cardamom is one of the spices found in Chanthaburi. In fact, this kind of food looks like chicken soup but is more strong in taste and has good smell.
Dessert
Thong Muan Nim : made from flour, looks like a pie but it is softer. It has a sweet and salty taste.
Khao Kriap On Nam Chim: the soft crispy dessert made from flour served with a sweet and spicy sauce. All of the 3 styles, sweet, spicy, and salty, are delicious.
Khanom Nimnuan: the sweet flour with the grated coconut inside has a good taste.
