In this work we have used a Cu-13.75 Al-4.95 Ni (wt %) shape memory alloy which shows a double
martensitic transformation linked to y’, and 8’, martensitic phases (6,7) . The transformation temperatures
of the pro-eutlectoid y I phase and a+y 1 eutectoid decomposition have been determined by conventional
dilatomeiry at a heating-cooling rate of 4 “C / min. The same sample has been used to study the precipitation
kinetics at constant temperature in a quenching dilatometer. The samples were annealed at 900°C during 30
minutes and quenched in situ at the isothermal ageing temperature. The dilatation vs. time was measured for
different ageing temperatures between 400°C and 482°C every 12.5”C.
