In conclusion, the present results clearly indicated
that the activities of SUS, invertase, hexokinase,
AGPase, UGPase, SSS and SBE are correlated with
the accumulation of starch during the grain filling
process. The rapid grain-fill and greater grain weight
of SA419 are attributable to its higher starch synthesizing
activity in comparison with wild type Tainung
67. In addition, the lower amylose content of SA419
grains is possibly due to their inferiority to synthesize
amylose through enzymes GBSS and SDBE than
Tainung 67 grains.
