29.4.4 Procedure Owner Responsibilities and must:-
provide documented procedures to the users of the system,
ensure that the procedures for all the systems are up-to-date,
control the distribution of the procedures and ensure that users have an up-to-date copy of the procedures,
ensure that the procedures conform to the Group IT Policy.
29.4.5 Database Administrator Responsibilities
a) DBA to ensure that the database does not cause unreasonable online response times, and it does not cause unattended programs to run for an unworkable period of time.
b) The DBA should establish naming conventions and standards for the database.
c) The DBA must know which security issues and software updates are relevant to the database environment
d) The DBA must keep up to date on newly released patches and security issues that affect the systems and applications
e) The DBA must monitor the
Server response time
Disk storage space
Client/Server utilization
f) Provide the following disaster recovery support functions:-
Restoring the database to a correct state in the event of failure.
Enable the recoverability of data at a point in time if there is a data entry error, program bug or hardware failure occurs. The DBA must be able to bring the database backward in time to its state at an instant of logical consistency before the damage is done.
Recoverability activities include making database backups and storing them in ways that minimize the risk that they will be damaged or lost, such as placing multiple copies on removable media and storing them outside the affected area of an anticipated disaster.
