Herbal materials supported by an herbal cultivation and collection group
The herbal cultivation and collection group was the hospital’s main source of herbal materials, and 68 plant species (76.4%) were managed by the members of this group. This group was estab- lished in 1990 to promote the use of herbal medicines and the exchange of knowledge among the members and to organize activ- ities related to the use of herbal medicines and the promotion of FM. The members of this group included folk healers, ATTMPs, and local people who were interested in the use of herbal medicines. The group supplied the herbal materials that were obtained from three main sources, including cultivation in members’ home gar- dens, collection within the community and collection from the wild. This diversity of sources was able to ensure the sustainability of the medicinal plants used at Kabchoeng Hospital.
