Introducing Lifestyles, a specialized residential program for obese individuals provided by Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Utilizing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that combines exercise, physical and occupational therapy, psychological counseling, behavioral modification, nutritional education, and medical support, Lifestyles helps participants change the underlying practices and patterns that often perpetuate obesity and create barriers to wellness.
The goal of Lifestyles is to help individuals make important behavioral and lifestyle changes that will lead to improved physical, mental and emotional well-being and the fullest possible quality of life. Through our unique treatment program we have enjoyed remarkable success with even the most complex cases.
We understand that obesity is more than just a weight issue. For many people, obesity is not only a condition, but also a symptom of even more serious problems. Based on that recognition, Lifestyles does more than treat the symptoms.
Lifestyles offers sessions that include individualized treatment plans, goal setting and exercise design; as well as group meetings on coping skills, motivation and self discovery.
Lifestyles offers a variety of nutrition classes offered by the registered dietician and cooking demonstrations all to help keep eating habits in check. A therapy gym that offers weight training and cardio activities is available. Dutchess Center also has a recreation department that offers an exercise program and many other types of activities seven days a week.
