The article proposes measuring carbon footprints of industrial and other human activities as a first step towards a better understanding its climate change impacts. A carbon footprint tool called Carbon Calculations over the Life Cycle of Industrial Activities (CCaLC) has been developed by a research team at the University of Manchester, England to assist businesses and professionals to estimate and manage the climate change impact of their activities along the supply chains. Case studies on companies' carbon footprint measurement efforts are presented.
