In 2005–2006, 7,267 individuals aged 12 years completed the household interview (online appendix Figure A1 [available at http://dx.doi.org/10.2337/dc08-1296]).
Questions covered demographic characteristics and medical conditions. Individuals
were asked whether, other than during pregnancy for women, a doctor or health
care professional had ever told them that they have diabetes. There were 516 individuals
aged 12 years classified as having diagnosed diabetes.
